There are plenty of activities taking place this summer at Storrs Center. As I have said before, if you have not ventured out to Storrs Center for some reason, summer is the perfect time to head out, park your car in the garage or in the Dog Lane lot and set out on foot to peruse the restaurants and shops. There is less foot traffic, less road traffic, and the merchants are glad to see the townies when the students are gone for the summer.
Here is a sampling of things to do at Storrs Center this summer:
Wednesdays: Live Music in the courtyard between Mooyah’s and Geno’s Grille. This week, July 16th blues with One Eyed Johnny and the Gravediggers and Board Game Night at Friendly Fire Game Center starts at 6pm.
Thursdays: The Mansfield Community Center is hosting a weekly concert series 6:30-8:00 pm . Check out the schedule here.
Saturdays-: Summertime Saturday Puppet Series at the Ballard Institute and Museum of Puppetry who shares space with the UConn Co-op Bookstore at Storrs Center. There are two performances , at 11 a.m. and at 2 p.m. Admission is $5 for children and $7 for adults and are sold at the door.
Storrs Farmers Market on the lawn of the town hall is every Saturday from 3-6 pm. There is ample parking in the town hall & E.O. Smith lots and a good supply of organic produce, honey and maple syrup, freshly roasted coffee, baked goods, miscellaneous food products, and household goods.
Don’t miss Square Fair on the 4th Friday of the month. The next Square Fair will be held July 25th 5-9 pm on the new Town Square at Storrs Center. The fair features local artists promoting and selling their wares including pottery, drawings, painting, jewelry and more.
Recently Open at Storrs Center:Price Chopper is open with a good selection of fruits and produce, meats, prepared foods and a seating area with a Starbucks in the store.
